One Month in Indonesia

Grant visited Indonesia in college and I had always wanted to go. I had dreamy visions of Balinese bungalows. Indo gets a lot of hype and it is well deserved. We loved this Southeast Asian paradise.

We started our trip in Bali, followed by Lombok, and a finale in Flores. We spent more time in the water than out and more time on boats than in cars!

Funny story: When we woke up on a boatel in Komodo on our travel day after nearly 3 months of traveling SE Asia, we thought “Dang! we are super far from Georgia!” We were slowly getting further and further away and had to make it from Flores to Bali to Kuala Lumpur to Singapore!

One Month Indonesia Itinerary

12 Day Bali Itinerary

Nusa Lembongan, Bali

Start your Bali vacay with 3 nights in Nusa Lembongan. Skip the crowds at Canggu or Seminyak and enjoy this peaceful paradise. Read about our thoughts on the Nusas here.

Ubud, Bali

Next spend 2 nights in downtown Ubud to visit the monkey forest and eat delish vegan fare. Then head out of town for a week long technology-free yoga retreat at an ashram! Check out our Ubud recs here and read all about our experience at our first yoga retreat!

8 Day Lombok Itinerary

Gili Islands, Lombok

After a week of yoga, meditation, and no alcohol or meat it’s time to let loose in the Gilis! It’s all about balance right? Spend 4 nights on our favorite Gili, Gili Air. Check out our guide to the Gilis here.

Kuta, Lombok

Next, head to the mainland and drive south to Kuta for surfing! Spend 4 nights in Kuta to get the vibe. Read our Kuta must-dos here.

5 Day Flores and Komodo Itinerary

Fly to Flores (or take the epic boat journey… I have a little fomo on this but it seemed pretty gnarly even for our backpacker standards!) and stay at the Le Pirate hotel and boatel! Spend 5 nights so you have plenty of time to catch a surface interval in between epic dives. Read all about our encounters with mantas and dragons in Flores here.

We wrapped up our Southeast Asia trip in Indonesia and it was the perfect finale. After spending over 2 months in SE Asia we had a hard deadline to get back for my college friend’s wedding. Part of me wishes we skipped it and stayed, but the other part of me is scared we would have never came back…

In love with Indo,

-Ray
