The Ultimate Backpacker’s Gift Guide

Wondering what to get the backpacker in your life this holiday season? This can be a challenging person to buy for as they are trying to embrace minimalism yet there are a few gifts that can make their journey extra enjoyable. Here is our Backpacker’s Gift Guide.

As we are about to embark on our long-term backpacking trip we have been stocking up on the best travel gear. Check out our top picks.

The Backpacking Traveler’s Must-Haves

Backpack – We did extensive research on backpacks and went to REI three separate times before deciding on these awesome Osprey ones. They easily convert to a duffle bag, have a detachable day pack, and open sideways which is way better than the kind you top load. Be sure to grab a rain cover stocking stuffer too. No one wants soggy clothes!

Go Pro – We are obsessed with out Go Pro and use it all the time when we are hiking, scuba diving, or simply exploring a new town. Throw in some fun accessories too! We especially love the Karma Grip which keeps the camera steady while filming.

Eno – These hammocks are great. We love to travel with our double nest which comfortably holds two people.

Chillax Loungers – These loungers are so fun and perfect for backpacking! We use them all the time whether we are at the beach, camping, or at a music festival. It even comes with a bottle opener and a cell phone pouch. The best part is you truly don’t need wind or a pump to inflate it!

Travel Yoga Mat – Namaste in style with this portable yoga mat. It is easy to pack while maintaining the size and support you would get in a traditional yoga mat. Perfect for the backpacking yogi. We take ours everywhere.

Toiletry Organizer – Hostels don’t always have adequate counter space so give your backpacker this hanging toiletry organizer! It helps keep things organized and is a total space saver.

Airbnb Gift Card – Airbnb is basically everywhere and it is our go to method when booking a place. From tree houses to trailers the backpacker in your life will LOVE this gift.

Airline Gift Card – Airfare is a must have yet high cost item for backpackers, making an airline gift card an ideal gift. Be sure to choose an airline that has routes to the countries they’ll be visiting.

Travel Journal – We recently got into journaling and having the right journal is a huge part of it. I use this one and love that’s it is made from cork so it is water resistant and that it has a pen holder!

Travel Neck Pillow – I love traveling with a neck pillow but it isn’t always practical for the backpacker who is limited on space. This inflatable neck pillow is perfect for easy storage.

Dual Face Watch – Time zone hopping is a lot of fun but can get confusing. This watch will ensure you’re calling your friends during their waking hours.

Puffer Jackets – Every backpacker needs a versatile, lightweight jacket. Check out this reversible one which folds up super tiny.

Happy Shopping,
