La Jolla San Diego Restaurant Guide

La Jolla / Bird Rock

We are simply smitten with La Jolla and its little sister neighborhood, Bird Rock. While La Jolla is known for its gorgeous coves and goofy sea lions, its culinary scene is a real treat too.

Bird Rock Coffee Roasters* – Best coffee in San Diego, period. This neighborhood spot is always bustling with babies, pups, and students. They have live music on the weekends and ample seating indoor and outside.

Wheat and Water – This Bird Rock pizza spot is delicious and always packed. Make a reservation if you can. The craft cocktails and unique appetizers ensure this is not your average pizza joint. We love the mushroom pizza!

Beaumont’s – This Bird Rock bar brings in the older crowd but the live music keeps everybody dancing all night long. It feels like a wedding reception in all the right ways. The food is yummy but seems a little overpriced. Go for drinks and try one of their delicious Moscow mules.

Taco Stand* – These tacos are superb. Seriously, so good! You can’t go wrong with your order. Low key and casual, Taco Stand is perfect for an after snorkel session.

George’s at the Cove –  A La Jolla classic, George’s has great food and sweeping views of the cove. Dine inside for a more formal experience or head to the rooftop patio for happy hour.
