When planning for our trip I read about Kas and I instantly knew I was going to love it. It was a little out of the way on our route but totally worth it. This was my favorite spot of our entire month in Europe. It is absolutely stunning. There is bright blue water and bougainvillea everywhere!
Getting to Kas with Kids
We were in Cappadocia so we had to fly back through Istanbul (a super kid-friendly airport!) to Dalaman Airport and then rent a car and drive two and half hours to Kas.
With a toddler and a baby in tow we knew it was going to be a long travel day so we made the most of it with a fun pit stop for lunch at Çalış Beach outside of Fethiye.
(Ölüdeniz is also a great pit stop, we did that on our return trip. Read about our Ölüdeniz recommendations here.) We arrived in Kas right at sunset and it was gorgeous!
Where to stay in Kas with Kids
Our hotel was the best! We stayed at Hotel Luna and the room was basic but we loved the Turkish breakfast and pool. Not to mention the view was incredible. You could see one of the Greek islands across the Mediterranean!
What to do in Kas with Kids
Hit the beach!
We visited Little Pebble Beach (Küçük Çakıl) and Big Pebble Beach (Buyuk Cakil). Küçük Çakıl is right in town (the entrance is by Derya Beach) and it is small and crowded but charming nonetheless.
Küçük Çakıl is a bit further from town and over a hill so we walked there and took a taxi back. The walk along the coast to get there is beautiful and we noticed many other “beach” spots which were usually part of a restaurant or day club. They looked fun but not the best fit for our fam of four! Küçük Çakıl is full of umbrellas to rent and has many restaurants that will deliver food to your lounge chair!
And a little further from town but totally worth the visit is Kaputas Beach and Seyrek Cakil. We were planning on going to Kaputas but then spent our limited time at less crowded and equally beautiful Seyrek Cakil. But be sure to pull over and take a look at Kaputas from the side of the road. It is gorgeous! They call it the Turquoise Coast for a reason!
Like many European beaches they are rocky and the water is beautiful but a tad too cold for our Tico toes! (We live in Costa Rica.)
Stroll the town
The best part of Kas is not knowing what’s around the corner. Stroll the cobblestone streets and hop in and out of cute cafes, restaurants, and shops. It is very romantic and the perfect place for an evening stroll. We had two nice dinners. I don’t remember the names of the restaurants but they were lovely!
My only complaint with Kas is that I wish we had more time here. On to the next adventure in Ölüdeniz!
