How I Got a Quarter Million Monthly Pinterest Views in 6 Months

I used Pinterest for fun when planning trips and looking for recipes but I had no idea how beneficial it would be for my business. We started our travel blog around the same time I started selling my counseling resources online. After listening to a few episodes of the Simple Pin Podcast I quickly realized I needed to get a Pinterest business account. It is free to do so and you can switch your personal account to a business account or start a separate one. I created 2 separate ones, one for each business, and I kept my personal account for fun.

I soon started pinning my content to drive traffic to my sites but it felt like I was just throwing things against the wall and hoping they would stick! Not to mention I was trying to pin everyday which was taking up a lot of valuable time.

That’s when I discovered Tailwind and it was the ultimate game changer. After I started using Tailwind my Pinterest account blew up and I was getting a huge traffic increase to my blog which led to more passive income.

My counseling website went from 4k to 201k monthly Pinterest visitors!

And our travel blog went from 1 (seriously, so sad) Pinterest viewer to over 94,000!

These numbers are crazy! And the best part is it is basically effortless. Tailwind allows me to schedule all of my content out months in advance. I literally set it and forget it! Tailwind even picks the best times for you to post based on when your audience is most-likely online. This is a huge help since I’m constantly changing timezones! I spend about 2 hours once a month scheduling out my content and then it pins for me so I can focus on blogging and traveling.

I started with the free trail which includes 100 pins and then I quickly upgraded to premium after I realized how beneficial it is to my business. My traffic and sales have dramatically increased since I started using Tailwind and it is directly related to my Pinterest views.

I know it is hard to invest in marketing especially when you are first starting out your blog and business, but this investment paid off for me in such a short amount of time. It’s only $10 a month, that’s pretty do-able!

I’ve been so happy with the results and so excited to share them with others. Here is a quick video of how simple it is to schedule a pin using Tailwind. I also mention Canva, another program I use. You can check it out here.

Other Pinterest Tips:

Collaborate with Others

Try using group boards or Tailwind tribes to discover great content to repin and to share your own great content.

Curate Quality Content

Don’t pin random content simply to balance out your own pins. Choose content that you know your followers are interested in and will benefit them. You want to be a curator of good content and a source they can learn to trust.

Use Keywords Google-Style

Pinterest is more of a search engine than a social media platform so treat it like one! Be sure to use target keywords in your pin descriptions.

Listen to Podcasts

Like I mentioned earlier. The Simple Pin Podcast is a great place to get Pinterest info and the host, Kate Ahl, is fabulous! Other podcasts like Pat Flynn’s Smart Passive Income help keep you inspired through the hustle.

Happy Pinning!
